Fiddlehead ferns (Lingda) are found in many places in Uttarakhand. Lingda are the young, tightly coiled shoots of certain ferns. These ferns are known for their unique appearance and flavor. Pickling fiddlehead ferns is a method of preserving them while enhancing their taste. 
It’s a well known food with very low cholesterol, sodium and a well source of protein, zinc, vitamin-a, vitamin-c, riboflavin, niacin, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, copper and manganese.
