Aglime, also called agricultural lime or garden lime is a soil additive made from pulverized limestone. The primary active component of Aglime is pure calcium carbonate (CaCO₃). It is used as a soil conditioner, with a common theme of providing a base to correct soil acidity.

The Greenfield Aglime is suitable for arable crops, horticulture, pasture lands, turf grass production and gardening including lawns, vegetables, fruit orchards, shrubs, trees, mushroom cultivation, etc. and it:

• increases the pHof acidic soil, reducing soil acidity, improving soil tecture and increasing alkalinity
• provides a source of calciumfor plants thereby improving crop yield and root system of plants
• improves quality of produce and prevents fruit cracking
• improves water penetration for acidic soils
• improves the uptake of major plant nutrients (nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium) of plants
• assists bacteria in transforming nitrogen to usable forms
• acts as insect-pest repellent in horticultural farming without causing harm to the plants

Application:

Incorporate into 15-20 cm topsoil @ 1.2 tonnes per acre ((about 100 g per pot) to raise the pH of a loam soil by one point. It is half that for sandy soil and almost double for clay soil. Aglime should be applied before planting or sowing. In existing crops apply Aglime with irrigation water. Ideally, the soil pH should be maintained at 6.5.

Note:

Aglime is not a fertilizer but can be used in combination with fertilizers.
