Laws on Passport in India Amit Kumar

The document which is a prerequisite for travelling beyond national frontiers is known as passport. Along with the need to travel beyond national boundaries, grew the need to regulate travel. Thus, various countries enacted laws relating to passports to govern the issues relating to the classes of passport, travel documents and conditions under which the grant of a passport can be refused. In this pursuit, India enacted its first legislation relating to passports titled as The Passport (Entry Into India) Act, 1920. Over the years, the need arose for the amendment in the act and which led to the enactment of The Passport Act, 1967. This book thus discusses in detail the background, preamble and statutory provisions of The Passport Act, 1967. In addition, the author has tried to link the statutory provisions relating to Right to passport with the latest judicial approach as well.
