The Blackmagic Design Cloud Dock 4 is a specialized, rack-mountable network storage solution designed to bridge physical camera media directly with local editing networks and global cloud workflows. Engineered primarily for high-pressure film sets, broadcast trucks, and post-production studios, this 1-RU device features four hot-swappable 2.5-inch drive bays that accept standard SATA SSDs or ultra-high-speed U.2 NVMe SSDs. Instead of waiting hours for a digital information technician (DIT) to offload and copy massive camera files to a central server, production teams can slide the raw camera storage disks directly into the dock. The device immediately mounts the ExFAT or HFS+ formatted drives directly onto the local network, allowing up to four editing workstations to connect straight into its four independent 10G Ethernet ports. This layout creates an instant, high-speed storage area network without requiring an expensive external 10G switch, enabling editors, colorists, and VFX artists to stream and scrub uncompressed multi-cam 4K or 8K footage with zero latency. Seamlessly integrated into the Blackmagic ecosystem, it handles background proxy generation and automatic cloud syncing with Dropbox, Google Drive, or AWS S3, allowing remote global teams to collaborate on the exact same project timelines.
