Traditional Assamese fabric known as Assamese polycotton gamusa is frequently used as a handkerchief or towel. It is soft, long-lasting, and simple to maintain because it is constructed of a mixture of cotton and polyester fibres. The gamusa is normally between 1.5 and 2 feet wide and 2 to 2.5 feet long. It comes in a range of hues and patterns, with a white base and crimson borders and elaborate embroidery being the most popular. In Assam, the gamusa is highly valued both culturally and socially and is frequently utilised as a marker of Assamese identity. It is utilised in a variety of ceremonial contexts, both cultural and religious, and it is also presented as a gift out of respect and appreciation.
